Kent 24 speaks to the Neighbourhood Ninja
A vigilante naming himself the ‘Neighbourhood Ninja’ is patrolling the streets of Royal Tonbridge Wells protecting ‘ordinary citizens’.
The masked crusader, claiming to be 25 years old, has so far remained anonymous, tackling garage break-ins and returning missing cats amongst other things, as well as conducting night patrols.
Though he has been the brunt of jokes from some news sources for his actions, he has said on his official Twitter feed that he is “bringing the community together”. He has also tweeted his plans to Kent Police, saying “Don’t worry Chief Inspector of Kent Police, you have nothing to fear from me, I am on your side.”
The anonymous hero has placed a number of places under a so called official ‘Ninja Watch’, said to include Homebase, the Bedford Pub and the Royal Victoria Place shopping centre. He even claimed to be watching over Friday’s Royal Wedding.
And now, in a statement released only to Kent24, the Neighbourhood Ninja has explained his actions in a impassioned and rousing speech.
He said: "I've created this character in an attempt to re-invent Neighbourhood Watch and to help people realise the importance of close communities."
"The Ninja idea came from the real meaning of the word which translates to 'concealed person'... with this it was my attempt to target a younger audience because they are the future and if we do not educate them, then we have no hope..."
"The two main words are 'Honour'... and 'Respect'.
Some people may see the Neighbourhood Ninja as a joke, but one thing's for sure. He is deadly serious about the task at hand.
